An integrated chemical-pharmaceutical site, since 1969

Latina Pharma S.p.A. manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms (FDF) – β-lactams, oncology, sterile and oral forms, lyophilised products – at its multipurpose site in Sermoneta, south of Rome.

The site

A multipurpose plant, ready to grow

Latina Pharma is a state-of-the-art Chemo-Pharmaceutical site, which includes all the necessary infrastructure, specialized and sophisticated technologies, expert teams and global standards of environmental and industrial hygiene, excellences that have contributed to creating a solid global reputation in the sector.

The plant, located not far from Rome, in the Municipality of Sermoneta, in the Province of Latina, is periodically checked by all the competent authorities regarding pharmaceutical compliance and approval. It covers an area of over 500,000 m2, part of which has not yet been built and remains available for future expansion.

Latina Pharma’s multipurpose structure, organized by product category, API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and DP (Drug Products), with an autonomous waste recycling plant, the “Ecological Platform”, for the recovery of solvents and other waste treatments and with an excellent track record in customer service and compliance, has a global reach of approximately 65 markets.

Our history

More than fifty years of pharmaceutical manufacturing

1969

The plant is bornBristol Myers Squibb builds the site, dedicated from the start to antibiotic production transferred from Verona. The complex would grow to around 2,000 workers.
1971–2004

New production linesAPI penicillins (1971), API cephalosporins and penicillin drug products (1975), oncology drug products (1983), cephalosporin drug products (1994), non-β-lactam API plant (1997), oral API penicillins (2004).
2001

Certified safetyBS OHSAS 18001 certification, with annual inspections, within the Integrated Environment, Health and Safety Management System.
2005

Wastewater treatmentA fully integrated wastewater treatment system comes into operation.
2007

Integrated Environmental AuthorizationIn October the site obtains the Integrated Environmental Authorization.
2010

Corden PharmaThe site becomes part of Corden Pharma S.p.A., of the German ICIG group, specialising in synthetic medicines for oral and injectable use, mainly β-lactam antibiotics.
2023

Extrovis GroupOn 24 May the plant is acquired by Kavis Pharma Holding, a company of the Extrovis Group.
2024

Latina Pharma is bornFrom 1 January the company takes the name Latina Pharma S.p.A.: a new identity, with the same passion for customers and patients worldwide.
